How do you organize your coupons?

Their are so many ways you can organize your coupons. The key is that you have to be comfortable and the coupons have to be accessible for you to actually USE your coupons.  If the system you start doesn't work for you switch to another method that you like.

C-Line Biodegradable 13-Pocket Expanding File, Coupon Size, 1 File Folder, Color May Vary 48410
I have used the expandable 7 divider coupon organizer and then I needed more sections so I moved up to the 13 pocket expandable coupon organizer.   They both worked out fantastic for the time being, but I just got too overwhelmed with how many coupons I had.  I had over 100 coupons in each section, way too many to be going through in the middle of grocery store. It just took too much time and concentration especially with two little kids.

Some people use the  Box Method   I personally don't know much about it, I just saw some couponers on Extreme Couponing use it.

Others, just take a sharpie marker to their inserts and label the front with the date and file them.  Then when when they see a blog reference a particular insert, they get that insert and cut out that one coupon and go the store.  This is a good method for people with little time, that don't want to cut coupons.

I now use the COUPON BINDER and I LOVE IT!!!
At first I thought the couponers with these binders were nuts and now I am one.  Be careful what you think of other cuzz you might become one. LOL

I love that I can carry it around like a purse, in fact a lot of people think it is a purse until I put it in the cart and open it up.

A friend and I ordered the pattern from http://www.couponclutch.com/ for $8 and this is my binder!

I have a 2" - 3 ring binder (because that is what I had at my house already)  and I purchased Baseball card holders (3x3), 30 holders at time until I got the amount I needed which is 90.  I also have plastic dividers in them as my labels. I thought that the plastic ones would be more durable that is why I did that.  I also purchased a pencil holder for binders for my scissors, pen, etc.

On the left side pocket I have envelopes with different store names on them, so that I am ready and prepared with all my coupons for that store.  My coupon policies and Walgreen monthly coupon books are in the side pocket.
On the right you can see that I have a 70pg spiral notebook in the front of my baseball card holders my grocery list/ mission. (I got the notebook for a penny at staples right before school started last year.)

I do love this binder and this method. It is easy to find the coupons I am looking for, but it does take some upkeep.  I have to go through it and discard the coupons that are expired. I have to cut the coupons every week ~ or every other week when I get to them.  Another reason I love this method is because of Clearance items or unadvertised sales that you could run into.  I have been able to get items for FREE because I matched coupons that I would have otherwise not had on me at the time.

I would love to hear how you guys organize your coupons.

  1. I have used the expandable organizer and now also use the binder (I love the binder. I just take to the store with me and it is so easy to find a coupon. I have also received so many people asking about couponing just because they see my binder.

  2. Perfect! I love the binder idea! I'm in a expandable pocket organizer now, but you've given me so many great ideas for couponing that my organizer is overflowing! I need something sturdier-- like a binder-- to make it easier in the stores. Thanks for the info!
