On Friday, August 14, 2009, Community Bank of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV, was closed by the State of Nevada Financial Institutions Division of Nevada. Subsequently, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was named Receiver. On August 17, 2009, the bank will be re-opened as Deposit Insurance National Bank of Las Vegas, NV. No advance notice is given to the public when a financial institution is closed.

Online service will be in read-only mode over the weekend. It is expected to resume the morning of Monday, August 17, 2009. Community Bank of Nevada had a number of avenues for customers to access funds, and each of those avenues had to be closed off so that a final accounting could be completed.

  1. In case Y'all don't know what this means.....

    The FDIC has closed this bank, if you have under $250,000 (I don't have to worry about having too much) they are now cutting checks for all CDs, IRAs and mailing them to all customers. IF you have checking or money market accounts with this bank then you are asked to go into the bank to close them. They are giving you one month grace period to do this. Interest for your accounts have stopped as of Aug 14th.
    If you have over $250,000 then I am not sure what happens because that is all the FDIC insures. (just incase we have some rich people reading this blog. LOL)
